We weren’t very keen on the Venetian blinds we had bought for the living room which (a) didn’t let that much light in when open and (b) still allowed friendly neighbours to wave at Stephenie when they walked past. Stephenie looked on line for potential replacements and found these, which we installed in the front bedroom when it became necessary to move into it.
We were really happy with the way they looked and performed in the front bedroom – so much so that we junked the recently purchased Venetians and got some for the living room too. We are extremely happy with the amount of daylight they let in as well as the look from outside and the privacy they offer.
The Venetian blinds had quite narrow slats. It was always going to be a compromise between light and privacy because the bigger the gap you created by opening them to horizontal (most light) the easier it was to see in, from the outside. The new blinds have much wider gaps between the opaque bands, so much more daylight gets into the room. The “gaps” are in fact made up of 2 layers of a very fine mesh which pretty much stop anybody seeing in from the outside during the daytime, even when close up.At night time you simply roll the blinds down a little bit so that the opaque bands take up all the space, providing privacy at night as well. They look pretty good too we think.
